SSG Cecil Simpson

Cecil Leo Simpson, 59, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Lansing, Michigan. Born June 8, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan to Alfred Dale and Rose Eilene (Pettit) Simpson.

Cecil was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was stationed in Germany, where he developed of love of German culture, food, and drink that would stay with him for the rest of his life. Cecil was a history buff who never passed up a documentary on American or German history. He was a diehard Spartan fan who also loved to golf, woodwork, and travel. Cecil lived for family gatherings – whether to watch an MSU game, to barbeque, or just to hang out.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christin Grant; his parents; and his two sisters, Josephine and Vickie.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sabine; his son-in-law, Josh Grant; his grandchildren, Katjana and Tyler; and his siblings, Kathy (Hal) Anderson, Dale (Karen) Simpson, Marshall Simpson, and Barbara Rahe.Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13 from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.In memory of Cecil, memorial contributions may be made to the Ingham County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be expressed at http://www.greastlansing.com.
